Feel Good Now

When was the last time you took yourself out on a date? I mean carved out some time just for you.

If it’s been recently kudos to you! Keep it up.

If it’s something that’s been in the back of your mind but you just haven’t gotten around to it, then this is your reminder to schedule it today.

But, if you’re asking… “Date myself? What are you talking about Michelle?”, then it’s long over due.

I’m talking about treating yourself for the day or setting aside a few hours to do what brings you joy. It’s that thing that when you do it you are so engaged in the moment; time just seems to go by so fast. It’s a time when anything that didn’t get done yesterday or needs to get done today can wait for now.

It’s your time to replenish and nourish your soul.

We lead busy lives with our agendas and to-do lists that sometimes our needs can fall through the cracks. You may feel the demands from work, family, kids, your partner or friends. It can become overwhelming at times to the point where you begin to feel depleted.

We live in a society that is highly competitive, to do better, be better, look better, have the best body, be the best mom, wife, lover, employee, manager, CEO. We have convinced ourselves that we have to balance it all AND do it all flawlessly with a smile on our face or else we have failed somehow.

Exhausting. Unrealistic. Damaging.

And such a big fat lie!

Sometimes (or most of the time) it’s hard for us to even give ourselves permission to schedule in that time for Self because that means something else will fall by the wayside and then we tell ourselves we are being selfish.

Another big fat lie!

Caring for yourself on a regular basis is essential to your well-being. And not just caring for yourself when things are great but during the hard times you are still willing to attend to your needs rather than ignoring them.

Here are 3 scientifically proven reasons why you need to take yourself out on a date pronto!

When you make self-care a regular routine, here’s what happens:

1. Increases positive emotions. When we increase positive emotions such as happiness, excitement, joy, appreciation it becomes an extension of what we experience with ourselves and our world. For example, our energy levels and immune systems improve, there is an increase in engagement with work and with other people, and our physical and mental health improves. In becoming happier, we also strengthen our feelings of self-confidence and self-esteem.

2. Cultivates gratitude. Increasing positive emotions, puts you in an energy of gratitude because you are having an experience of what is good in your life. This is a great time to think about what you love about your life and savor the feelings it brings. It is a reminder that even though every day may not be good, we can seek out what is good in every day.

3. Relationship Building. The most important component to our well-being is Relationships (I’ll be getting into this more in my next newsletter) It all starts with how you are in relationship with yourself. When you schedule time to treat yourself, you are building a positive and support relationship with yourself. You are saying yes to your needs, you are saying yes to meeting those needs and you are saying no to putting yourself last. This will avoid depleting yourself which overtime will affect your overall health and well-being.

So pull out your schedule today and choose a date this month to take yourself out. It could be to get a massage or go to a movie or out for a nice lunch or reading that book you’ve been eyeing with a nice glass of wine or your favorite non-alcoholic drink. It’s totally up to you.

You can also invite a friend(s) along and make a day of it.

But remember, only invite those people who feed your soul!

Daily Deposits: Are You Doing This?

Daily deposits are powerful.

What are they?

They are the choices we make day-to-day that add to or take away from the woman you’re wanting to become or the woman you have worked hard to be.

Each day you either make a deposit to or withdrawal from your mind, body and soul.

If you are a woman who is on a journey of evolving, which I know you are, the choices you make must support your growth.

Is what you’re choosing to feed your mind, body and soul in alignment with who you are or who you are becoming?

It may not be a big deal in the moment but overtime these daily deposits to your mind, body and soul DO add up.

It effects your vibration, your energy and how you are showing up for yourself. And how you are showing up for yourself influences everything in your outer world.

As you grow and evolve the choices you make must be in tandem with how you are shifting, growing and evolving or else there is a feeling of being stuck.

If you are wanting to attract a healthy relationship in your life you can’t keep making choices that keep you in drama-filled partnerships.

If you’re wanting to feel more centered and grounded in your life you can’t keep making decisions based on the expectations of others.

If you’re wanting to be more confident you can’t keep making decisions against what you truly desire.

Personally, when I find myself skipping my yoga class often or judging myself or comparing myself to others, I know I’m out of alignment with my soul. I’m taking away from the woman and person I am.

As I continuously grow, up-level and evolve as a woman, it is essential for me to consciously be aware (as much as I can) of the daily deposits I’m making.

Daily deposits of how I speak to myself, speak to others, my thoughts, to what I wear or what I’m putting into my body. Are these choices representing and adding up to the woman I am, as I continue to evolve?

Will it be perfect all the time? Absolutely not.

But the more self-supporting decisions you make daily, the less you are depleting your personal reservoir and you can show up exactly as you are!

So how can you start to create daily deposits that support your growth and well-being?

Start small.

Ask yourself… Is what I’m choosing adding to or subtracting from my well-being?

Start with the small choices you make daily…

Choosing to start your day with gratitude
Choosing to slow down just enough to recharge
Choosing what to watch on TV
Choosing what to wear
Choosing to walk those extra steps
Choosing to accept a compliment with a Thank You!
Choosing to offer a smile
Choosing to listen a little more closely to your inner self

Want to take it a step further?

If you are growing and shifting towards greater self-love, begin with daily deposits of self-acknowledgement by finishing this sentence often…
I love myself when ____________.

If you are growing and shifting towards feeling more happiness in your life, begin with daily deposits of noticing all the good that happens throughout your day and feel the gratitude that arises.

If you are growing and shifting towards feeling more empowered, begin with daily deposits of congratulating/treating yourself when you set boundaries or speaking your truth.

If you are wanting to improve how you view your body, begin with daily deposits of speaking to your body with kindness whenever you judge it.

The moment you open your eyes to start the day, to the moment you lift your feet off the ground to go to bed, you have spent the day making choices.

Make those choices that are a direct reflection of the woman in you.

You are a woman of greatness.
You are a woman on purpose.
You ARE.
